Super Mario Galaxy Film Trailer Is Here, Revealing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices

Nintendo alongside Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. The reveal happened in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that centered on the upcoming animated film.

The sequel to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the far corners of the cosmos. Along the way, he discovers a fresh princess character and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.

A Cosmic Adventure Drawing from Beloved Titles

Similar to the Wii console classics that act as its source material, Mario will venture away from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. On his epic voyage, he will encounter once more some familiar faces, including the Luma, a breakout star from the first movie.

Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who seemingly wields metal-based powers. Notably, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also contains hints to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

All-Star Vocal Ensemble Come Back and Grow

The movie will welcome back of the original voice cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.

A Big Year for Mario

The upcoming Mario film is scheduled to arrive near the 40-year celebration of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. In addition to the movie, 2026 looks set to be a major period for Mario and his allies.

Nintendo has three new games publicly declared for the upcoming year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Launch Date Set

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
