The Pakistani team Ends South Africa's 10-Test Unbeaten Run.
The left-arm pacer claimed four wickets in the second innings following failing to take a wicket in the first innings.
Opening Test, Lahore (the fourth day)
The home side 378 (Imam 93, Salman Agha 93; Senuran Muthusamy 6-117) & 167 (Babar 42; the spinner 5-57)
The visitors 269 (De Zorzi 104; Noman 6-112) & 183 (Brevis 54; Shaheen Afridi 4-33, Noman 4-79)
The hosts secured a 93-run victory
Pakistan halted the reigning champions South Africa's winning streak by completing a 93-run margin victory in an exciting and closely contested first Test in the city of Lahore.
The Proteas, whose 10-Test unbeaten run in Test cricket culminated in a win against Australia in the World Test Championship final in June, were dismissed for 183 in pursuit of 277.
Having resumed on 51-2, they lost century-maker Tony de Zorzi lbw to left-arm quick Afridi to the third delivery of the day to push the tightly balanced run chase in Pakistan's favor.
Left-arm spinner Noman, who took 10-191 in the game, removed Tristan Stubbs for two and clean bowled Brevis, who offered some resistance with a run-a-ball 54.
Right-arm spinner Sajid also took advantage of sharp turn to end opening batsman Rickelton's innings - he lasted 145 balls for 45 - and Shaheen returned in the post-lunch session to knock over the lower order with a fine display of reverse swing.
He had Kyle Verreynne lbw for 19 and dismissed Subrayen and Kagiso Rabada to seal the win.
It was each team's first match of the 2025-27 World Test Championship cycle and propels Pakistan directly into the number two spot after table-toppers Australia.
The win was built around key performances of 93 by opener Imam and, importantly, all-rounder Salman Agha which lifted them to three hundred and seventy-eight.
From there spinners Noman Ali and Sajid Khan utilized helpful home pitches, as they had in their Test series win over England the previous year, to maintain their advantage.
The next and final Test starts on October 20.
